Creative Concept
A great video starts with a clear idea. It’s the blueprint for the creative process. The idea can come from anywhere. That’s where our creative team come in, turning that idea into a creative concept for a video that people will want to watch.
What is creative concepting?
The creative concept is the initial phase of brainstorming and developing a central idea or theme that will drive the video project. This concept serves as the foundation for the video’s content, style, and message, ensuring it aligns with the company’s goals, brand identity, and target audience.
How does creative concepting work?
The creative process starts with an initial brief, which outlines the overall objective of the video or series of videos and provides wider context about the company, its tone of voice, style and target audience. Once our team have the basic information they need, they do a bit of research into your company and audience and have a brainstorming session to come up with a range of ideas that get whittled down to just one or two great ones.
Once an initial concept is agreed on, it’s developed into different storylines, key messaging or potential visual elements. Storyboards or mood reels can be created to bring the concept to life and illustrate style and tone. This is a collaborative process and the more we get right early on the better the end result will be – not to mention the production and post production will run smoothly and be on budget.
Now that the creative concept is finalised, we move on to the Pre-Production phase.
A few takeaways:
It’s important to take the time to come up with a creative concept that works, fits the brief and the business outcome. Whist the early stages of concept and pre-production require the most input from stakeholders, dedicating quality time to this process saves a lot of time and money further down the track and ensures you get a quality video at the end.
Whilst the YourFilm team are experienced in solving problems and being flexible where needed, fundamental changes to the concept once filming starts may cause delays and additional costs.
